The longer I painted, the more the single small baleful eye became a supernaturally large all-seeing eye. I was unprepared for the difficulty in painting wrinkles and had to leave many out. Therefore, I have never looked so good.

The title refers to a powerful painting done years ago by a younger sister, Carola Middlemore Bell, in Santa Fe.
