One of a series of paintings about working and retired circus performers.
I'll never forget a line of Barnum and Bailey Elephants, the show over, racing along late-night city streets. They were heading with single-minded intensity to the transportation taking the show to the next town. Their magnificence reduced me to tears.
This line of elephants was inspired by that memory.
