A dog expert once suggested Maybe was a Katrina dog because she was afraid of water. Not so, but she was from Port St Joseph, Florida, a place that knows all about high water events.
At the end of her life when I was losing her, I painted this; "Dog Saved from a Hurricane." I hid it away because the sight of my failing grip around her plump body filed me with longing. I wanted to to save her, to see her again.
